A Day in the Life…
Reporting to the Director of Research Strategic Initiatives & Financial Planning, the The Research
Management System (RMS) Implementation Project Manager provides project management for the
institution-wide roll-out and implementation of an electronic Research Management System (RMS), along
with project expertise to related initiatives within the Research Enterprise. The RMS Implementation
Project Manager works with staff from all units University-wide, to facilitate all aspects of the RMS project
implementation, from the current phase through to integration, with a significant focus on stakeholder
management, data visualization reporting, vendor management and project close out.

As the RMS Implementation Project Manager, you will…

• Lead the implementation and effective integration of the Research Enterprise to an electronic
Research Management System (RMS);
• Lead the development and fulfillment of training for Brock’s research community to facilitate an
effective user experience with the RMS;
• Develop data collection, analysis and data visualization reporting mechanisms for the RMS and
related projects;
• Promote the adoption of the RMS by developing and executing a change management plan;
• Keep research stakeholders informed and engaged as you deliver ongoing communications relevant to
the transition;
• Identify risks and create strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning;
• Plan and schedule project deliverables, timelines, goals, milestones and manage resources;
• Establish a mechanism to solicit and triage requests;
• Identify and propose opportunities for improvement and implement approved solutions;
• Develop, design, coordinate and deliver training workshops and instructional materials;
• Prepare usage reports, analysis, spreadsheets and documentation pertaining to the use of the RMS;
• Report on quantitative data and trends to support the University in making evidence-based decisions
associated with its research support units;
• Work collaboratively with the Research Enterprise unit leads to define recommended areas of project
• Represent the Office of the VPR on the project in internal and external interactions;
• Oversee and approve payments to ensure alignment with contract;
• Monitor service levels to optimize the contract while preventing overages;
• Facilitate the exploration of further integration across the institution; and
• All other related duties as required and/or assigned by the Director, Research Strategic Initiatives &
Financial Planning, or a designate.

What you need to Succeed…
• Post-secondary degree, preferably in business or information technology.
• A minimum of four (4) years of experience as a lead or integral contributor on a significant
project(s), preferably involving technology integration.

• Advanced knowledge of project & change management tools and techniques and background in
leading projects from conception to finalizing;
• Ability to perform effective analysis, research, documenting and presentation of the results in a
variety of ways to both technical and non-technical audiences;
• Ability to quickly understand business requirements;
• Advanced technology application competency (i.e., Microsoft Office); and
• Good understanding of University systems.
• Proven ability to work with and understand the needs of multiple stakeholders;
• Ability to prepare excellent oral and written communication, including preparation of reports
• Ability to influence and guide individuals from all professional levels;
• Demonstrated capacity to give engaging presentations and create learning materials for broad
• Patience, compassion and understanding with the ability to communicate tactfully and
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team; and
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all contacts while maintaining confidentiality.
• Ability to support and implement a variety of complex projects, both short and long term;
• Strong problem solving with the ability to interpret/troubleshoot issues, determine if the issue is a
user or technology issue, and provide appropriate solutions;
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple
• Flexible and adaptable;
• Ability to effectively prioritize issues and follow through to resolution;
• Strong learning, comprehension, organizational, and scheduling skills;
• Ability to pay close attention to detail, ensure the accuracy of reports and data, and make sound
decisions using available information; and
• Adaptable and prepared to undertake varying assignments of differing complexity or length.

Preferred or Asset Skills…

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification;
• Curriculum development or instructional experience; and
• Experience in Research Administration.
Salary and Benefit Information
• Job Grade: M ($61,989 – $88,270)
• This position includes full comprehensive benefits coverage.

  • The salary range indicated is representative of all positions evaluated at this level. Actual salary is
    determined by assessing related skills, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness, subject to
    available budget.
