Webinar Objectives:
- To distinguish clinical care activities from research related activity within the context of clinical studies to: assess and address the ethical implications of any failure to appropriately distinguish between these activities, to describe appropriate methods/tools to support making these determinations and demonstrate how to appropriately apply the existing regulations, rules and guidelines in the review, consideration, approval and conduct of a clinical research study.

Learning outcome: 1. Identify and interpret privacy sections of the Tri-Council Policy Statement 2 (TCPS 2) and Canadian privacy legislations related to personal and confidential information. 2. Define types of personal and confidential information required for research involving humans and best methods for collecting and storing the information. 3. Describe examples, consequences and strategies to minimize privacy breaches. 4. Explain the importance of safeguarding the privacy and confidentiality of research participants.
This module serves as an introduction to the importance of research ethics and discusses research ethics considerations through the research life cycle.
