As the CAREB 2015 National Conference and Annual General Meeting quickly approaches, it is time once again to reflect on the tremendous achievements that CAREB members and others have made in their contribution to research ethics in Canada and globally. CAREB is putting out the call for nominations for the President’s Award and the Distinguished Service Award.
The President’s Award recognizes a CAREB member for advancing CAREB’s objectives through outstanding contributions and commitment to enhancing the protection of human research participants and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the processes of ethics review of human research.
The Distinguished Service Award (DSA) recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to research ethics whether through teaching, research or service. The DSA was established in 2012 to recognize accomplishments in research ethics beyond CAREB’s activities.
Candidates to be considered for either award must be nominated. The letter of nomination should be prepared by a peer or colleague and submitted to the CAREB President. The letter should detail the nature of the individual’s contributions and their impact on CAREB or the field of research ethics, as appropriate. Ideally, the nomination should be accompanied by the nominee’s CV. The CAREB Board of Directors will assess the nominations and, in its sole discretion, select the recipient(s). The Board may elect not to confer either award in any given year. These awards have no cash value.
Please send all nominations to the rachel.zand@utoronto.ca by April 3, 2015.
